Scott
Weaver has been a football coach for 12 years, and a health/ PE teacher for 11 years.
He got his college degree at Virginia Tech. He started coaching football his
senior year in college, at Northside High. He came to Hidden Valley in 2004 and
was the assistant coach under JR Edwards. He then received the head coaching
job in 2009. While football is in season he is at the school seven days a week
and spends 40 hours a week coaching on top of teaching. When he is not coaching,
he is teaching students how to live healthy lives and how to better their
lives. He lives in Roanoke with his wife, Laura, and their three kids .
Coach Weaver is a very competitive
person. He said, “I like the competitiveness of it, the ability of trying to be
better than the other person, gets me going.” Coach Weaver is a very humorous
person sometimes. He also is a very caring person. He said “Football has helped
a lot of people into colleges that academically they couldn’t get into so I
like trying to make that possible by teaching them how to get better at
football.” His most important trait is that he is very determined. Coach Weaver
said, “I work from 8:20-3:30 teaching. During the football season I work a
forty hour week doing weightlifting and training my players to get better at
the game of football. In the off season I do 12 hours of coaching a week on top
of teaching.”
Coach Weaver is a great teacher and
coach. He is a very determined, caring, and competitive person. His work helps
people to get into colleges, get in better shape, and be a better person. His determination,
competitiveness, and caring make him a hidden hero!
